About this item
The Accentra (Yale) 2100 is a rim exit device for door openings from 30 inches to 36 inches wide, certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Type 1, Grade 1. Also referenced as the lk-2100, 36-2100, 2100-689, and 2100-630, this device installs on wide stile doors with a minimum stile width of 4-1/2 inches on standard 1-3/4-inch door thickness. The 2100 is non-handed, fits both single swing doors and pairs of doors with a mullion, and includes hex key dogging as standard on panic devices. Strike: 757F. SKU: 2100-36.
What the ANSI A156.3 Grade 1 certification covers on the Yale 2100 exit device
ANSI/BHMA A156.3 is the US standard governing exit devices. Grade 1 is the highest of three performance tiers and requires the device to pass cycle endurance testing at a minimum of 1 million push cycles, plus tests for latchbolt strength, dogging mechanism endurance, and operational force under door loading conditions. Grade 1 exit devices are the correct specification for high-traffic commercial egress doors in offices, healthcare facilities, schools, government buildings, and institutional applications where the device must perform reliably at high daily cycle counts over a long service life.
The 2100 is also listed for use on fire-labeled door assemblies. The steel interlock "E" bracket on the 2100 maintains the door-to-mullion relationship specifically in fire-labeled device installations where pairs of doors must close and latch reliably to maintain the fire barrier. How the deadlocking pullman latchbolt and 757F roller strike work on the 2100
The 2100 uses a deadlocking pullman latchbolt that positively engages the 757F roller strike. A deadlocking latchbolt has a secondary antifriction element that keeps the latch from being retracted by pressure or vibration when the door is closed but not dogged. The pullman latchbolt retracts when the pushbar is depressed, allowing egress. When the door closes, the latchbolt re-engages the roller strike automatically.
The 757F roller strike uses a roller element in the strike pocket that reduces the latching force required for the door to latch fully on closing, which is particularly relevant on high-traffic doors where the door closer is set to a heavier spring size. The roller makes the latch engagement consistent across the full closing cycle. For rim cylinders compatible with the 2100 Series outside trim cylinder position, the Accentra Yale 1109 rim cylinder is stocked.
How the 2100 compares to the 1500 Series in the Accentra rim exit device line
The 2100 and the 1500 Series are both rim exit devices for wide stile doors in the 30-to-36-inch opening range, but they differ in pushbar profile and projection dimensions. The 2100 has a projection of 2-1/2 inches active and 1-3/4 inches depressed. The 1500 Series has a projection of 5-5/8 inches active and 4-1/2 inches depressed, which is the traditional longer-reach bar profile used in architecturally detailed and institutional applications. The 2100 is the contemporary lower-profile option.
The 2100 is non-handed and installs without specifying door hand, which simplifies ordering on projects with multiple exit device locations across mixed door swings. For the 1500 Series traditional rim exit device in 626 satin chrome, the Accentra Yale 1500/36 traditional rim exit device is also stocked.
