About this item
The Accentra (Yale) 2100/42 is a rim exit device for door openings from 36 inches to 42 inches wide, certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Type 1, Grade 1. Also referenced as the 2100-42, 2100-689-42, and 2100-630-42, this device installs on wide stile doors with a minimum stile width of 4-1/2 inches on standard 1-3/4-inch door thickness. The 2100/42 is non-handed, fits single swing doors and pairs of doors with a mullion, and includes hex key dogging as standard on panic devices. Strike: 757F. SKU: 2100-42.
How to choose between the 2100/36 and 2100/42: door opening width is the deciding factor
The Accentra 2100 Series is available in two door width configurations. The 2100/36 covers openings from 30 inches to 36 inches. The 2100/42 covers openings from 36 inches to 42 inches. The door opening width is measured as the clear opening between the door frame jambs, not the door slab width. On a 42-inch wide door slab installed in a frame with two 1-inch jambs, the clear opening is 40 inches and the 2100/42 is the correct device.
Selecting the wrong width model means the pushbar will either overhang the door stile or fall short of the opposite stile, both of which create an improper installation. Measure the clear opening before ordering. The 2100/42 is the correct specification for wider commercial doors such as large conference room entries, main building lobby doors, accessible entry doors meeting ADA door width requirements, and wider institutional passage doors. For the 36-inch version, the Accentra Yale 2100 rim exit device 36-inch is also stocked. For the complete Accentra exit device range, browse the Accentra exit devices catalog.
What the UL listings on the 2100/42 cover: FVSR, ZHEM, and ZHLA
The Accentra 2100/42 carries UL and cUL listings under three categories. FVSR and FVSR7 cover panic hardware listing, confirming the device meets UL's panic hardware requirements for fire-rated door assemblies. ZHEM covers latching hardware, applicable when the device is used as a latching mechanism rather than a panic device in specific assembly types. ZHLA is the windstorm-rated assembly listing, which is required in coastal, high-wind, and hurricane-zone jurisdictions where the door hardware assembly must be rated to resist specified wind load pressures.
The ZHLA windstorm listing makes the 2100/42 an appropriate specification for exit device installations in regions governed by Florida Building Code, Texas Windstorm Insurance Association requirements, and similar state or local codes that require windstorm-rated hardware on commercial door openings. Confirm the applicable UL listing requirement for the specific installation jurisdiction before finalizing the specification.
Non-handed installation and the steel interlock E bracket on the 2100/42
The 2100/42 is non-handed, meaning it installs on both left-hand and right-hand doors without modification or special ordering. On projects with multiple exit device locations across doors with different swing directions, this simplifies ordering and reduces inventory complexity. Machine screws and wood door fasteners are included as standard for both hollow metal and wood door applications.
The steel interlock "E" bracket on the 2100 Series maintains the door-to-mullion relationship specifically in fire-labeled device installations on pairs of doors. When the device is installed on a door pair with a mullion, the E bracket coordinates the latch engagement geometry to ensure both door panels latch reliably on closing, which is required to maintain the fire barrier rating of the assembly. For rim cylinders used in the outside trim cylinder position on this device, the Accentra Yale 1109 rim cylinder is stocked. For other commercial hardware and builders hardware, the builders hardware section is available. For the full commercial lock range, browse the commercial locks section.
