The dormakaba Simplex 9600 is a fully mechanical pushbutton cabinet lock designed for interior storage applications where a reliable single-code keyless lock is needed without batteries, wiring, or the overhead of key management. The all-metal cast face plate houses vandal-resistant solid metal pushbuttons and a force-resistant protected exterior knob. The round spring latch bolt operates differently: it retracts on code entry, allows the cabinet to open, and automatically relocks when the cabinet closes. The spring latch model is the better choice for applications where consistent relocking without user action is important, such as petty cash drawers or medical supply cabinets where forgetting to relock creates a security gap.

An optional key override is available on select models, adding a secondary access method for situations where an authorized supervisor needs to open the cabinet without the combination or in an emergency. The key override adds a small upcharge to the base price and ships with the lock when specified at ordering.

Installation and door preparation requirements

The 9600 uses a two-step mortise installation. For wood cabinet doors, it requires either a router cut or a 5-1/2" x 1" slot with a trim plate. For metal cabinet applications, a punched slot or a series of 7/16" drilled holes serves as the mounting preparation. The non-handed design installs in either orientation without modification.
