About this item
The HES 5000C-630 is a Grade 1, low-profile complete electric strike for cylindrical locksets, the compact strike for openings where there isn't much room behind the jamb. An electric strike replaces the fixed strike plate in the door frame: energises it and the keeper pivots so the door opens on a push, which is how a card reader, keypad, or buzzer releases the opening. The 5000 series is built specifically for tight, low-profile installations, with a strike body just 1-1/16" deep, yet a unique keeper pin locking design lets it exceed the strength ratings of the frame, door, and locking hardware. The 5000C is the "Complete Pac," shipping with both the 501 and 501A faceplates and mounting hardware in one box, ready to install. It's field-selectable fail safe or fail secure, runs on 12 or 24 volts AC or DC, and comes in satin stainless (630).
What fail safe and fail secure mean
This is the first decision on any electric strike, and the 5000C lets you pick either in the field. Fail secure (fail locked) keeps the door locked when power is lost, you need a powered release or a key to get in, while exit stays free from the inside. That suits most exterior and security doors, since an outage leaves the door secured. Fail safe (fail open) unlocks on power loss, for doors that must release in an emergency. Because the 5000C is field selectable, one unit covers either requirement, you set it during installation rather than ordering a specific version.
When wired to an access control system, intercom, or request-to-exit device, energizing the 5000C frees the keeper so the door opens, then it relatches when the door closes.
Why low profile matters
This is the 5000 series' defining advantage and the reason to choose it over a deeper strike. Many frames, especially aluminum storefront and narrow profiles, don't have much depth behind the jamb for a strike body. At 1-1/16" deep, the 5000 fits where a deeper strike won't, which is why it's the go-to for low-profile openings and tight retrofits. Despite the compact size, the keeper pin locking design gives it serious strength: 1,500 lbs static, 70 ft-lbs dynamic, and 500,000 cycle endurance, exceeding the ratings of the surrounding hardware. It accommodates 1/2" to 5/8" latchbolts (5/8" with a 1/8" door gap) and is non-handed, so one unit fits any door.
The included 501 faceplate (square corners) suits cylindrical locksets in ANSI metal jambs, and the 501A (radius corners, universal mounting tabs) suits cylindrical locksets or spring latches in aluminum frames, covering the two most common conditions out of the box. For frame prep, HES offers the CUT-MTK metal template kit as an accessory, and the 5000 Series cut sheet covers the dimensions and wiring.

Why choose the HES 5000C-630
HES is one of the most trusted electric strike brands in access control, and the 5000C is its Grade 1 low-profile solution in a complete, ready-to-install package. You get field-selectable fail safe/fail secure, dual voltage, a compact 1-1/16" body that fits tight jambs, both common faceplates in the box, and strength ratings that exceed the surrounding hardware, all backed by a 5-year warranty. For a cylindrical-lockset opening with limited frame depth tied to access control, it's the strike that fits where others can't.
One thing to confirm before ordering: the 5000C is the low-profile model for cylindrical locksets with up to a 5/8" latchbolt, verify your lockset and frame depth match, and decide fail safe vs fail secure (you set it in the field). If you have a standard-depth frame and want the slightly larger body, the 5200C is the sibling; if you only need the body, the plain 5000 is body-only while the 5000C is the complete package.
