About this item
The PDQ GP116 is the Entrance function (ANSI F109) in PDQ's GP Series Grade 2 heavy duty cylindrical lever lock. It fits the standard 160 and 161 door preparation and retrofits virtually every major competitor's door prep without modification. Grade 2, assembled in Lancaster, PA, 8-year warranty - and a lever torque rating that exceeds the ANSI/BHMA abusive lever torque test standard by more than three times. That last point is the reason facilities managers who've been through a round of lever failures on other Grade 2 products switch to the GP Series.
How the F109 Entrance Function Works
The Entrance function has an inside push/turn button that controls the outside lever. Understanding the push vs push-and-turn distinction matters before specifying it.
Pushing the button (without turning it): The outside lever locks. A key from outside, or rotating the inside lever, unlocks the outside lever. The next time the door closes, the outside lever is free again unless someone pushes the button again. This is the standard office lock mode - push to lock, key or inside lever to unlock.
Pushing and turning the button simultaneously: The outside lever stays locked even after someone uses a key or the inside lever to open the door. The latch retracts to let the door open, but the outside lever doesn't unlock for the next entry. The outside lever stays locked until the inside button is released. This is the deadlock mode - used when a space needs to remain secured against repeated unauthorized entry attempts without someone standing at the door.
That behavioral difference between F109 (push/turn button) and F82 (standard entry with push button only) is why facilities managers specify F109 specifically for private offices and high-security interior entries. For all commercial cylindrical lever locks, browse our commercial locks catalog.
Large Format IC - The Standout Feature for Schlage Buildings
Most Grade 2 cylindrical locks don't offer Large Format Interchangeable Core (LFIC) compatibility. The GP116 does - on the Philadelphia lever style only. LFIC is the Schlage-format IC system used in buildings running Schlage's interchangeable core master key program. Where a building specifies Schlage LFIC for Grade 1 locks, the GP116 allows Grade 2 doors to participate in the same IC program without switching to a different core format. The SFIC (Best, Falcon, Arrow compatible) option is available across all lever styles. For the LFIC option, specify the Philadelphia lever and select "LFL - Schlage LFIC prepped but less core" or "SFL - SFIC Less Core" at the cylinder field.
Keyway Flexibility
The GP116 ships with SCC (Schlage C Compatible) as the default keyway, compatible with any Schlage C master key system. It's also available in Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, Corbin 60, Corbin L4, Russwin D1, Schlage E, Schlage C-K, Sargent LA, Sargent RA-RC, Yale E1R, Yale GA, Falcon E-R, and Kwikset - making it one of the most keyway-flexible Grade 2 cylindrical locks available. Buildings running any major existing master key program can add GP116 locks to the system without ordering separate cylinders.
