About this item
The PDQ SD126 is the Passage function in PDQ's SD Series Grade 2 standard duty cylindrical lever lock. Passage means both levers are always free. No push button, no key cylinder, no locking mechanism. The latch bolt retracts when either lever is turned, from either side, every time. This is the correct lock for commercial hallways, break rooms, conference rooms, storage areas, and interior doors where no locking function is required but a quality lever set is.
The SD Series is PDQ's value-tier Grade 2 cylindrical line - positioned between the lighter commercial duty KV Series and the heavier GP Series. "Standard duty" reflects the chassis weight and cycle rating compared to the GP's heavy duty construction. Where Grade 2 performance at a competitive price point is the priority and the door doesn't see the concentrated abuse of a main corridor or high-traffic institutional entry, the SD126 covers the requirement and ships with an 8-year limited warranty.

Removable Through Bolts: Faster Installation
The SD Series uses removable through bolts - the fasteners that pass through the door from one rose plate to the other. On most cylindrical locks, removing the through bolts requires removing the trim and disassembling the lock mechanism. On the SD Series, the through bolts are designed to come out without full disassembly.
This matters on retrofit and replacement jobs. Swapping an SD126 into a door that already has a 160 or 161 prep - the standard cylindrical lock door preparation with a 2-1/8-inch face bore - goes faster when the through bolts remove cleanly without fighting the lock body. The SD126 fits both the 160 and 161 prep standards and retains all major competitor door preps, covering most replacement scenarios without re-drilling.
SD126 vs GP126: Standard Duty vs Heavy Duty
The SD126 and GP126 are both Grade 2 passage levers for the same door prep. The differences lie in the chassis weight, lever selection, and finish range.
The GP Series (GP126) is the heavy duty Grade 2 - 3x BHMA abusive lever torque rating, 3 lever styles (Philadelphia, Boston, Miami), 7 finish options. For doors that see deliberate lever abuse, heavy cart traffic, or institutional-grade daily use where Grade 2 is acceptable but durability needs to be above average, the GP126 is the correct specification.
The SD Series (SD126) is the standard duty Grade 2 - competitive price point, 5 lever styles (Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Memphis, Orlando), 4 finish options, removable through bolts. For interior commercial doors in multi-family, hospitality, and office applications where the door sees normal daily use without significant abuse potential, the SD126 delivers the Grade 2 certification at a lower investment with more lever style flexibility.
If the hardware schedule specifies Grade 2 passage and the lever style required is Memphis or Orlando, the SD126 is the only PDQ Grade 2 passage option that carries those styles. The GP126 doesn't offer Memphis or Orlando levers.
