About this item
The Corbin Russwin 688F95 is the regular arm accessory for DC6000 series door closers, used in both regular arm pull side installations and top jamb push side installations. It's an arm-only replacement and accessory part - not a complete closer unit. The 688F95 is ordered when a DC6000 closer is already installed and the arm needs to be replaced due to damage, wear, or a change in the door's mounting configuration. Available in painted and plated finishes to match the installed DC6000 closer body.
What regular arm mounting means and which doors it covers
A door closer can be mounted in three primary configurations. Regular arm mounting positions the closer body on the pull face of the door and the arm shoe on the frame stop. This is the most common configuration for commercial doors that swing away from the closer body side: the arm creates a lever between the door and the frame that controls both the opening resistance and the closing cycle. Top jamb mounting uses the same arm geometry but positions the closer body on the frame above the door opening and the arm on the push face of the door, which is used when the pull side of the door doesn't provide suitable mounting surface for the closer body.
The 688F95 arm is specified for both of these configurations on DC6000 series closers. The arm is not used in parallel arm installations. For parallel arm mounting, the correct bracket is the 188F41 standard parallel arm bracket or the 509F49 parallel arm hold open bracket, both of which use a different arm geometry suited to parallel arm door-to-frame geometry.
688F95 vs 688F77 hold open regular arm
Within the DC6000 regular arm family, two versions are available. The 688F95 is the standard regular arm with no hold open function. The door returns to the closed position after every use, which is the correct configuration for fire-rated door assemblies and for any opening where hold open is not permitted or not needed. The 688F77 is the regular arm with hold open (A1) function, which allows the door to be held open at a set position until manually pushed closed.
If the existing installation uses the 688F95 and hold open function is not currently needed, replacement should be like-for-like with the same arm. If a hold open capability needs to be added to an existing regular arm installation, the 688F77 is the correct upgrade within the same DC6000 arm family. Confirm which variant was previously installed before ordering a replacement to avoid a function mismatch.
Finishes, DC6000 series context, and ordering
Four painted finishes are available on the 688F95: 690 dark bronze painted, 691 light bronze painted, 696 satin brass painted, and 693 black painted. Select the finish that matches the installed DC6000 closer body. Painted finishes are the standard commercial specification for the DC6000 series. Plated finishes are also available for installations where a polished or satin metal appearance is required.
The DC6000 is Corbin Russwin's heavy duty closer line. The complete DC6000 closer unit is the DC6210 multi-sized model. The 688F95 is the replacement arm that fits the DC6000 chassis and is ordered when only the arm requires replacement rather than the full closer assembly. Replacing the arm alone is the correct service approach when the closer body mechanism is intact and functioning and only the external arm assembly is damaged or needs reconfiguration. For the full range of DC6000 and DC3000 series parts including brackets, covers, and arms, browse the door closer parts catalog. The complete Corbin Russwin door closers section covers complete DC3000, DC6000, and DC8210 closer units. For the full selection of door closers and accessories across all brands available on this site, that catalog is available for comparison.
Select your finish when ordering. Confirm the installed closer is the DC6000 series and identify whether the standard non-hold-open arm or the 688F77 hold open arm is the correct replacement before ordering.
