About this item
The Accentra (Yale) 1212 is a rim IC cylinder housing for exit devices and exit device trim. Also referenced in parts ordering as ai31212 and ai10212, the 1212 accepts Yale Full Size Interchangeable Core (LFIC) cores and installs in place of a standard rim cylinder on Yale and Accentra exit device applications where IC key control is required. Available in 626 satin chrome and 606 satin brass. The IC core is not included with the housing and must be ordered separately. SKU: 1212.
What the Yale 1212 rim IC cylinder housing is and how it differs from a standard rim cylinder
The 1212 is a rim cylinder housing with no fixed pin cylinder inside. It accepts a Yale Full Size Interchangeable Core directly, which means the key control function is provided by the IC core that slides into the housing rather than by a factory-pinned cylinder. This is the critical distinction from the Yale 1109 standard rim cylinder, which has a fixed 5-pin cylinder and operates with a specific key cut. The 1212 housing itself is keyway-neutral until a core is installed.
This design allows the same housing to serve different keyways and key systems over time as cores are swapped. When a facility changes its key system, the cores in each 1212 housing are replaced without touching the exit device, the trim, or the housing itself. The process takes seconds using a control key rather than requiring disassembly of the exit device assembly. For Yale Full Size IC cores that install in the 1212 housing, the Accentra Yale 1210 interchangeable core is the compatible core for Yale LFIC housings. For the full IC core range at American Locksets, browse the IC cores catalog.
Where the Yale 1212 rim housing installs and what exit devices it is compatible with
The 1212 installs on exit devices where the exterior trim requires a keyed cylinder for outside entry. Exit devices are installed on fire doors, corridor doors, stairwell egress doors, and high-traffic commercial egress openings where the interior push bar must operate without a key while exterior entry is key-controlled. The 1212 provides that key control function through the IC core mounted in the housing.
The 1212 is compatible with Yale and Accentra exit device trim that accepts a rim cylinder format in the standard Yale housing geometry. Confirm that the exit device and trim on the door accept the 1212 housing format before ordering. For the rim IC cylinder housing with keyway-specific configurations such as the GC through TH keyway series on the Accentra 1193 LFIC rim cylinder, the Accentra Yale 1193 LFIC rim cylinder is also available. For cylinders, cores, and key components across all formats, the cylinders, cores, and keys section covers the available options.
Finish selection, core compatibility, and ordering notes for the 1212 housing
The 1212 is available in 626 satin chrome and 606 satin brass. The finish on the rim cylinder housing should match the finish of the exit device trim it is paired with. Hardware submittals on commercial projects typically require all finish codes on a door opening to match, so confirm the exit device trim finish specification before selecting the housing finish.
The 1212 accepts Yale Full Size IC cores (LFIC format). It does not accept SFIC (Small Format Interchangeable Core) cores, which use a smaller core geometry and a different housing engagement profile. Confirm the IC format in use across the facility before ordering. The LFIC core must be ordered and installed separately. For the complete commercial lock and hardware range at American Locksets, browse the commercial locks section.
The IC core is not included. Confirm exit device compatibility and IC format before ordering. Also referenced as: ai31212, ai10212. Available finishes: 626 satin chrome, 606 satin brass.
