About this item
The Accentra (Yale) 2213 is a Large Format Interchangeable Core (LFIC) mortise cylinder housing with a 1-11/16-inch body length, a 7-pin configuration, and a 2160 cam. Also referenced as ic 2213, this is a housing-only product: the LFIC core is not included and must be ordered separately. The 2213 installs in mortise lock bodies that require the Yale LFIC format at the 1-11/16-inch body depth. SKU: 2213.
What the 2213 LFIC mortise housing is and how it differs from the 2197
The 2213 and the 2197 are both LFIC mortise cylinder housings at the 1-11/16-inch body length with the 2160 cam and a 7-pin configuration. The single ordering difference between them is whether the LFIC core is included. The 2197 ships as a complete assembly with the LFIC core included. The 2213 ships as a housing only, without any core. This means the 2213 is the correct specification when the buyer already has a compatible LFIC core on hand and needs only the housing, or when the core is being sourced through a separate keying program where the cores are combinated and distributed by the facility's key control authority.
Sourcing the housing and core separately is common in large institutional facilities where cores are managed centrally, combinated to the master key program by the key control manager, and then distributed to installers who place the housing in the lock and insert the core at the time of installation. The housing-only order keeps the keying separate from the hardware order. For the same housing with core included, the Accentra Yale 2197 LFIC mortise cylinder with core is also stocked. For the full IC housing range at American Locksets, browse the IC housings catalog.
Which Yale LFIC cores install in the 2213 mortise housing
The 2213 accepts Yale Full Size Interchangeable Core (LFIC) cores. The 1220 is the standard 7-pin Yale LFIC core and is the core format the 2213 housing is designed to accept. The core plugs into the 2213 housing and is removed and replaced using a control key in seconds without any tools or disassembly of the mortise lock body. When a key is compromised or a personnel change requires rekeying, the core is swapped out at the door and the housing remains in place.
The core is not included with the 2213. For the Yale 1220 7-pin LFIC core that installs in the 2213, the Accentra Yale 1220 7-pin interchangeable core is stocked. For the full IC core range, browse the IC cores catalog. For cylinders, cores, and cylinder components across all formats, the cylinders, cores, and keys section covers the available options.
What the 2160 cam provides and how to confirm mortise lock body compatibility
The 2160 is the factory-standard cam for the 2213 housing. The cam sits at the rear of the housing body and engages the mortise lock case mechanism to operate the latchbolt and deadbolt when the IC core is turned by the key. The 2160 cam is compatible with Yale and a number of other commercial mortise lock bodies that use the same cam pocket geometry.
The 1-11/16-inch body length must match the cylinder pocket depth in the mortise lock body. This is longer than the 1-1/2-inch body length of the 2196 LFIC housing. Confirm the body length against the mortise lock manufacturer's specification before ordering. For mortise locks at American Locksets that accept the Yale LFIC cylinder format, the mortise locks catalog covers the available range.
IC core not included. Confirm body length (1-11/16 inch) and cam type (2160) before ordering. Also referenced as: ic 2213.
