The Kaba MAS CDX-10 is a Federal Specification FF-L-2740B high security lock assembly for pedestrian doors, combining the X-10 electronic combination lock with a deadbolt base plate that surface-mounts to the inside face of the door. The CDX-10 assembly is manufactured per Federal Specification FF-L-2890A. It is self-powered by Kaba MAS's Green Rotational electromechanical PowerStar technology, requiring no batteries. What the deadbolt base plate does on the CDX-10

The deadbolt base plate in the CDX-10 assembly serves two distinct operational functions beyond simply mounting the X-10 lock to the door. First, it provides a bolt-latch position that holds the bolt retracted so it cannot extend inadvertently when the door is open. This prevents the bolt from striking the frame during door operation and damaging either the hardware or the door prep. The assembly surface-mounts to the interior door face. No through-door mortise is required for the base plate. True Scramble displays random numbers on the dial to prevent observers from reading the combination from finger positioning.

The audit trail records all openings on a non-resettable basis. The record cannot be erased. Unsuccessful attempts are recorded after three consecutive wrong combinations. Wrong try penalties are automatic: 10 to 14 errors trigger a 3-minute lockout; 15 or more errors trigger a 4-minute lockout. Both the error count and penalty period reset with a valid combination entry. Auto reset also occurs 40 seconds after dialing stops or when the bolt is thrown, returning the lock to standby without requiring manual action.
