About this item
The PHI Precision ELR 2600 Series is the Electric Latch Retraction version of the Precision Olympian narrow stile Concealed Vertical Rod (CVR) exit device. Seven function variants are available on one product page: ELR2601, ELR2602, ELR2603, ELR2605, ELR2608, ELR2614, and ELR2615 - selected at the Function field when ordering. The ELR2608 (function "08" - Key Locks/Unlocks Lever) is the function most commonly specified for access-controlled aluminum storefront egress doors where card reader or keypad control is required from outside.
What ELR Means - and How It Differs From the E-Series
ELR is Electric Latch Retraction. The solenoid physically retracts the latch bolt or bolts when the access control panel sends a signal. The door can then be pulled open from outside by anyone - no lever turn required, no key required - because the latch isn't engaging the strike any more.
This is different from the E-Series (E2103), which is Electric Lock/Unlock - the solenoid on the E-Series controls whether the outside lever can operate the latch, but the latch bolt itself stays extended in the strike until someone turns the lever. ELR pulls the bolt back. E-Series enables the lever to pull the bolt back.
For applications where an automatic door operator, card reader, or push button activates the door to swing open (not just unlock) on credential, ELR is the correct specification. The door operator receives the same access control signal, the ELR solenoid retracts the latch, and the operator opens the door. One credential, one signal, door opens. CVR - Concealed Vertical Rod: Narrow Stile Aluminum Doors
CVR devices run their vertical rods inside the door stile, concealed. Nothing is visible on the door face except the touchbar assembly. The latch bolts engage at the top and bottom of the door frame - header and threshold. When the ELR solenoid activates, it retracts both latch points simultaneously.
This is the correct device for narrow stile aluminum storefront doors where exposed vertical rod hardware (SVR) would conflict with the door frame geometry or the architectural specification requires a clean door face. The Olympian series narrow stile CVR handles door widths of 36 inches (doors 2'-7" to 3' wide) and 48 inches (doors 3'-1" to 4' wide), field-cuttable if needed.
The CVR latches at both the top and bottom of the door frame. This two-point latching provides higher security than a single rim latch point and is the required device type on many aluminum storefront and architectural entrance specifications.
ELR150 Power Supply: Required - Not Optional
The ELR 2600 Series cannot operate without the ELR150 Series Power Supply. This is a hard requirement, not an accessory suggestion. The ELR150 converts the line voltage supply to the correct low-voltage output for the continuous duty solenoid. The solenoid can run momentarily (for momentary unlatching - door opens, bolt re-extends after timed interval) or continuously for dogging (latch held retracted for free-passage periods during business hours).
The ELR option can be combined with hex key dogging and cylinder dogging in addition to the electric function - one of the significant advantages over the MLR retrofit approach where mechanical dogging compatibility requires additional components.
Function Codes: Select at Order
This product page covers all seven ELR 2600 Series functions. Select the correct function code in the Function dropdown before adding to cart.
ELR2601: Exit only, cover plate outside. ELR2602: Exit only, dummy trim prep. ELR2603: Key retracts latchbolt (standard entry function). ELR2605: Key locks and unlocks thumbpiece. ELR2608: Key locks and unlocks lever/knob (classroom/office function - outside lever control by key). ELR2614: No cylinder, lever always active (free passage outside). ELR2615: No cylinder, thumbpiece always active.
For access-controlled entrances where a card reader or keypad at the door controls the ELR signal AND a key provides manual outside override, ELR2603 (key retracts) or ELR2608 (key controls lever) are the correct function specifications.
