About this item
The Accentra D122 is a Grade 1 cylinder x cylinder deadbolt with a 2-3/4-inch backset, certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.5. The deadbolt operates by key from both the exterior and the interior, the configuration specified for doors where interior access must also be credential-controlled. It installs on doors prepared to ANSI/BHMA A156.115 specifications using a standard bored-hole installation on square or beveled doors opening in or out. The D122 is non-handed and field reversible, fitting 1-3/8-inch to 1-3/4-inch door thickness. Multiple finish options are available. SKU: D122.
What cylinder x cylinder means on the D122 and when this configuration is the correct specification
A cylinder x cylinder deadbolt has a key cylinder on both faces of the door: one on the exterior and one on the interior. Operating the bolt from either side requires a key. This is a fundamentally different configuration from the cylinder x thumbturn deadbolt, which allows interior egress without a key. The double-cylinder configuration is the correct specification when a door has a glass panel, sidelight, or window within reach of the deadbolt, where a thumbturn on the interior could be operated by someone who breaks the glass. Without a thumbturn, exterior access is not possible without a key even if the glass is breached.
This configuration is also specified on doors where interior key control is required independently of exterior key control, such as secure areas within a building where personnel need a separate credential to exit through a particular door, and on doors in commercial settings where the interior is not a normally occupied space and internal access needs to be as controlled as external access. Confirm that the application does not have a code restriction on double-cylinder deadbolts before ordering. Some fire and building codes restrict the use of double-cylinder deadbolts on certain occupancy types. For the cylinder x thumbturn version in the same D-series deadbolt, the Accentra D112 cylinder x thumbturn deadbolt is also stocked.
What ANSI/BHMA A156.5 Grade 1 certification covers on this deadbolt
ANSI/BHMA A156.5 is the US standard for auxiliary deadbolts. Grade 1 is the top performance tier and requires testing across bolt throw strength, cylinder pull resistance, operational cycle endurance, and bolt projection consistency. The D122 passes all Grade 1 requirements, making it appropriate for commercial entry doors, multifamily residential applications, institutional facilities, and any installation where the deadbolt performance must meet the highest standard the specification defines.
Both cylinder positions on the D122 are keyed. The cylinder keyway, key blank, and keying arrangement can be matched to an existing building key system or master key program during installation. For key cylinders, IC cores, and key blanks compatible with the Accentra cylinder, the cylinders, cores, and keys section covers the available options. For Accentra lever locks that pair with the D122 on a complete door opening, the Accentra lever locks catalog is available for reference.
Installation requirements and backset options for the Accentra D-series deadbolt
The D122 uses a 2-3/4-inch backset, the standard commercial dimension measured from the door edge to the center of the bored hole. For doors requiring the 2-3/8-inch backset, the D121 is the corresponding model. Confirm the existing door prep backset before ordering. The D122 installs on doors from 1-3/8 inches to 1-3/4 inches thick using a standard bored-hole installation. The lock is non-handed and the bolt direction is field reversible, so one SKU covers left-hand, right-hand, inswing, and outswing door configurations.

Confirm the backset, door thickness, and any applicable fire or building code restrictions before ordering. Multiple finishes are available. The D122 is non-handed and field reversible.
