About this item
The Accentra D212 is a Grade 2 single cylinder deadbolt with a 2-3/4-inch backset, certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.5. The function is ANSI E0152: key from the exterior retracts and throws the bolt, thumbturn from the interior retracts and throws the bolt. The bolt is a 1-inch throw hardened steel deadbolt with a hardened anti-saw pin insert and a 2-1/4-inch by 1-inch face plate. Both metal door and wood door strikes are included along with strike reinforcement. Door thickness 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches. Non-handed and field reversible. SKU: D212.
What makes the D212 deadbolt different from the D211 and how to choose the right backset
The D212 and D211 are the same deadbolt in two backset configurations. The D212 uses a 2-3/4-inch backset, which is the distance from the door edge to the center of the bored hole. The D211 uses a 2-3/8-inch backset. Everything else is identical: Grade 2 certification, ANSI E0152 function, hardened bolt with anti-saw pin, face plate dimensions, strike package, and installation method.
The 2-3/4-inch backset is the standard commercial dimension. Most commercial hollow metal doors, solid wood entry doors, and institutional door assemblies are bored to the 2-3/4-inch dimension as the default. If the door is an existing installation, measure from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole before ordering to confirm which backset is in the prep. For the 2-3/8-inch backset version, the Accentra D211 single cylinder deadbolt is stocked at the same specifications.
What the hardened anti-saw pin insert does on the D212 bolt
The 1-inch throw bolt on the D212 contains a hardened steel insert pin that rotates freely when a saw or drill engages it. Sawing attacks on deadbolts work by cutting through the exposed bolt length while the bolt is thrown. A standard steel bolt can be cut through if enough force and time is applied. The anti-saw pin spins inside the bolt cross-section when a cutting tool contacts it, preventing the tool from gripping and cutting through the bolt. This is a standard security feature on commercial-grade deadbolts and is part of what distinguishes the D212 from consumer-grade hardware.
The D212 is also UL-listed for 3-hour fire ratings when installed with a compatible primary latching device. This listing makes it appropriate for doors on fire-rated assemblies where the deadbolt must be part of the listed assembly rather than an unrated addition. For Accentra lever locks and latching hardware that pairs with the D212, the Accentra lever locks catalog covers the available options.
Where Grade 2 is the correct specification for a D212 deadbolt installation
ANSI/BHMA A156.5 Grade 2 is the performance tier for medium-traffic commercial applications. It covers deadbolts installed on suite entry doors in office buildings, apartment unit doors, break room and washroom access doors, storage room doors, and secondary perimeter doors where the daily cycle count and forced-entry exposure are moderate rather than high. Grade 1 is the correct specification for high-traffic institutional doors, main building entries, and any door on a hardware schedule that explicitly calls for Grade 1. Grade 2 is the practical specification for the large category of doors that need a reliable keyed deadbolt without the cost and weight of Grade 1 hardware.
For key cylinders and key blanks compatible with the Accentra cylinder on the D212, the cylinders, cores, and keys section covers the options. For the full range of auxiliary deadbolts, the auxiliary deadbolts catalog is available. For all cylindrical deadbolts across grades and configurations, browse the cylindrical deadbolts section.
Strikes included. Confirm the backset dimension is 2-3/4 inches before ordering. Non-handed and field reversible. Multiple finishes available.
