About this item
The PDQ KV125 is a single-sided commercial-duty rim cylinder deadbolt, a surface-mounted auxiliary deadbolt operated by an inside thumbturn only, with no outside cylinder or key. The single-sided function (ANSI E2192) is built for doors you only need to secure from the inside: throw the bolt with the thumbturn to lock, turn it back to retract. There's no keyed outside access because there's nothing on the outside face, just the bolt entering the strike. It's the deadbolt for storage rooms, mechanical rooms, back-of-house doors, and any opening secured by the person inside. The KV125 is part of PDQ's KV Series, a Grade 2 deadbolt line (grade-comparable with PDQ's SD Series), non-handed, with a 1" throw bolt.
What single-sided means and where it's used
This is the key thing to understand before ordering, because single-sided is a specific configuration. A single-sided deadbolt has the thumbturn and bolt mechanism on the inside only, the outside face has no cylinder, no thumbturn, nothing to operate it from outside. You lock and unlock entirely from inside the room. That suits doors where outside access isn't wanted or needed: a stockroom locked from within, a mechanical or electrical room, a stairwell door secured on one side, or any door where the person inside controls it. It's surface mounted and requires special door prep (a 1-3/4" bore on one side), so confirm your door can take that prep.
If you do need outside key access, that's a different function, the KV116 single-cylinder version has an outside key, and the KV137 is double cylinder. The KV125 is specifically the inside-only thumbturn model.
Built with real security for a Grade 2 deadbolt
Despite being a value-priced standard-duty deadbolt, the KV125 has genuine security features. The bolt is a 1" throw brass bolt containing a 1/4" case-hardened steel roll pin, that hardened pin resists sawing through the bolt, the classic attack on a deadbolt. It's non-handed so one unit fits any door, fits doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick (1-1/2" to 2" for SFIC), with a 2-3/4" backset adjustable to 2-3/8". The bolt and strike faces are stainless steel or wrought brass.
It's also keying-flexible, which is unusual at this level. The KV125 comes with an SCC (Schlage C compatible) keyway standard and is available in other manufacturers' keyways, and it accepts 6 or 7-pin interchangeable cores compatible with BEST, Falcon, and Arrow. Keying options include keyed different, keyed alike, master, grand master, and construction master keying, so even this single-sided deadbolt can be brought onto an existing master key system if you add a keyed function elsewhere.

Why choose the PDQ KV125
PDQ builds dependable commercial hardware at a value, and the KV125 is its single-sided KV Series deadbolt for doors that only need inside locking. You get a hardened-pin brass bolt with a full 1" throw, non-handed installation, broad keyway and interchangeable-core compatibility, and five architectural finishes, all at a standard-duty price point. For storage, mechanical, and back-of-house doors secured from within, it's a practical, secure choice.
One thing to confirm before ordering: the KV125 is single-sided (inside thumbturn only, no outside access), and it needs special door prep with a 1-3/4" bore on one side, so verify your door suits surface-mounted single-sided prep. If you need outside key access, choose the KV116 (single cylinder) or KV137 (double cylinder) instead.
