About this item
The Hager 3510 is a Grade 2 passage leverset built to ANSI function F75 for commercial and light institutional applications where a latching lever without access control is the correct specification. The latchbolt operates by lever from either side at all times with no locking mechanism and no cylinder. It carries BHMA certification to ANSI A156.2 Grade 2, UL and cUL listing for 3-hour A label single doors, ADA compliance per ANSI A117.1, ANSI A250.13 severe windstorm resistant component certification, and both UL10C positive pressure and UL10B neutral pressure ratings. Available in satin chrome (US26D) and oil rubbed bronze (US10B) with three lever styles.
What the ANSI A250.13 severe windstorm certification covers
Most commercial lever locks carry Grade 1 or Grade 2 BHMA certification and a UL fire rating. Fewer carry the ANSI A250.13 severe windstorm resistant component certification, which covers the lock's ability to maintain structural integrity under the pressure differentials and debris impact conditions associated with high-wind events. The 3510 carries this certification alongside its standard Grade 2 and fire ratings, making it the appropriate specification for commercial projects in wind-hazard zones where the door hardware schedule requires this designation.
The dual UL pressure ratings, UL10C positive pressure and UL10B neutral pressure, extend the lock's fire door compatibility to applications where the fire code requires positive pressure testing rather than just neutral pressure. Positive pressure testing simulates the real conditions in a building fire, where HVAC pressure and stack effect push air through gaps in the assembly. The 3510 is rated for both, covering the broadest range of fire door assembly requirements without needing to specify a different product for different building conditions.
Free-wheeling rose and chassis construction details
The 3510 rose is 3-3/8" in diameter and free-wheeling. A free-wheeling rose rotates independently from the lock chassis when force is applied to it from the outside. This is an anti-vandalism and anti-attack feature: an attempt to grip and wrench the rose to gain leverage on the mechanism causes the rose to spin freely rather than transmitting torque to internal components. The lock chassis itself is heavy gauge steel, zinc dichromated for corrosion resistance. Exposed trim is wrought brass, bronze, and stainless steel with zinc-based components.
The deadlocking latchbolt pins the latch in place when the door is fully closed, which prevents the bolt from being retracted by shimming or card attacks from the door edge gap. This is a meaningful security detail on a passage function lock because the door still latches on closing even without any locking mechanism. Standard door preparation is a 2-1/8" cross bore and 1" edge bore. Door thickness range is 1-3/8" to 2", which covers standard commercial hollow metal and solid wood doors including doors thicker than the 1-3/4" standard covered by many other Grade 2 locks.
Lever styles, finishes, and 3500 Series function range
Three lever styles are available on the 3510: Archer (ARC), August (AUG), and Withnell (WTN). Backset is 2-3/4" standard with a 2-3/8" option. The 4-7/8" x 1-1/4" ASA 3935 strike ships standard. The 3500 Series covers the full range of Grade 2 functions including passage (3510), privacy (3540), entry (3553), classroom (3570), and storeroom (3580), all in the same platform with the same lever styles and finishes, which allows hardware consistency across an entire floor or building. The full Hager lever locks section covers Grade 1 and Grade 2 options across the Hager line. For the broader range of commercial cylindrical lever locks available on this site, that category covers all brands and grades.
Select your lever style, finish, and backset when ordering. Confirm door thickness is within the 1-3/8" to 2" range before specifying the 3510.
